elusive morphologies for an epistemological impasse

softrobotic curated by Léo Marybrasse Malamout & Florence Leprat ADAVENTURA 2026-04-26

the first iteration of a research process centered around anguilla anguilla — an animal form crystallizing a still ongoing rationalist impossibility: despite its huge interest within techno-capitalism as a resource, it resists being successfully bred in captivity.

entering the space, we face an arationalist logistic process we suppose the operator left behind: it leaves us with an unintelligible logic of biotic control, in between the capture of the fish larvae and their exportation through an anthropic flux extending the already two-year route from the sargasso sea where we suppose the eel to reproduce.

supposedly swimming through oceanic streams to the sargassean sea, we still haven't been able to observe the reproduction process — which probably occurs externally from the fish body, sexually differentiating depending on depth:

fish form deeply determined by the abiotic contingencies of the milieu, from leptocephalus to brown eel.
